Its hard to say, the formulation you used sounds right. Are you applying it on the roots only or roots through the ends?

You may want to use Three quarter 4N and quarter 4G on the roots only with 20 volume for 30 mins. After the 30 mins apply half 4NN with half 4G and 30 volume through the ends for 15 mins.

Hi,

I am indian and have naturally dark brown almost black hair. I have a large amount of gray hair but not quite yet half my head. My hairdresser uses 4NN and 4G on my hair but I am unaware of the formulation. I would like to mix and apply myself to save money. I tried putting half of each colour mixed with 20vol/6% developer and the colour did not appear to look the same "goldish" colour on my head when my hairdresser applies it. I then tried 1/3 4NN and 2/3 4G and the colour of the mix when applied looks more correct but my hair colour is still starting to have a slightly reddish effect but it is fairly close. Any ideas on how I should be mixing to get the rich dark brown almost black look again?

Thank you so much for bring forth this helpful info on INOA hair color. I'm happy that you have had god experiences with it and wish you continued success.
I myself still do not use it but I do use other Loreal products. I have been introduced to it when consulting in salons and the reviews are still so mixed. It seems like the larger percentage trust using Keratin (which has gotten very bad reviews)over using this color for the first time or ever again.

I have also had salons use it just to charge more money to clients for their service rather that using it for the reasons you expressed.

I also know of salons who were offered to use it in exchange for free press, but thats hearsay or maybe just advertising.

What ever the case maybe, I am happy to provide a platform for all to share their experiences,

I would like to take a moment to address some of the comments of hairstylists and clients that are writing in to this article. Some extremely valid concerns were raised and I think they need to be addressed, so good going guys for bringing them up.
I am actually an educator with L'Oreal Professionnel and sometimes our reasons to why we do what we do get lost by the time it gets to y'all.
The first thing that I want to address is the issue of having to buy into the complete line to be able to use the product. This is not exactly true, but I know exactly where you are getting this information. To have an In-salon certification, an introductory kit needs to be purchased, but any licensed stylist can certify (to be able to buy the product) buy attending a class at a local Salon Centric store at no cost. You will actually be able to work with the product in the hands on workshop and see the results.
The reason L'Oreal Professionnel requires a certification to purchase the product is INOA is a three component system. To have different results, the method of mixing and application must be different. We want stylist to be successful with this product, so we are willing to take the time required to educate.
The second problem that was raised was overly warm tones of your blondes. This is a underlying pigment thing. Think back to your color wheel and color theory; you have all the answers right in front of you. If there still are having questions about this, call your local L'Oreal Professionnel rep to see if an in-salon class can be arranged. We are dedicated to the stylist to continue education.
The white coverage of INOA is one of the major benefits of this color line. Remember that, it takes a different formula for that coverage.
As far as the itchy scalp problem the client said she experienced - there will always be people that are allergic to the pigment within color, and of course, ALL haircolor (except clear) have pigments in them.
I am going to have to expressly disagree with the comment about the INOA containing ammonia. The alkaline ingredient that has replaced it is Mono Ethanol Amine (MEA). The best thing about this product is that because of the ODS, we didn't have to boost the amount of this ingredient to damaging levels to get the natural hair pigment to lighten; MEA is found at the same levels as our demi-permanent color lines that have been used for years.
I have used this product since it was released, and I continuously have amazing results time after time. I really regret that the stylists that have commented negatively have had such bad experiences. If you give this really phenomenal haircolor another chance, you would see a revolution before your eyes. Just remember to mix and apply as instructed. :-)

It has taken me 6 months to recover from the client loss that INOA has caused me. This is a horrible product and trashed client's hair after their second visit. The POST shampoo, which you have to use after processing, has the purest ammonia smell and it says it contains ammonia right on the bottle. This, right after I sell it as this great new non-ammonia hair color. I tool a different route and went with another non-ammonia line and love it.
