Assisting Orlando Pita At BCBG Fashion Week NYC Spring/Summer 2015

Yesterday was the first of many days to come to assist and learn from my boss and mentor, Orlando Pita.

We started the day with a demo where Orlando showed us the hairstyle, the technique behind achieving it and a “What Not to Do” tutorial.

The look is described as “The Bohemian Woman,” with a natural feel that’s sexy and appears as if she styled it herself.

So forget the perfect, blown out, sleek pin-straight hair, waves or curls, that is not what defines this modern individual.

Using Chi products and a Chi flatiron we followed Orlando’s instructions, starting on hair that was either dried by hand or not perfectly blow-dried, to deliver what everyone saw gracing the runway for BCBG.

With the amazingly talented Joe Martino, my other mentor at the Orlo Salon.

 Getting the model ready!!

Here she is!!!

Great work Orlando!! Don't forget to follow Orlandopita on Instagram!

Stay tuned for looks from five other shows from Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week – Spring/Summer 2015.

Hair At Derek Lam Spring/Summer 2014 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week

"Structured ease" was one of the terms Derek Lam used to describe the vibe of his Spring/Summer 2014 runway show and each model's hair was styled to follow suit.

Orlando Pitdid his usual demonstration for us, showing the techniques, tools and products that were needed.

The hair was first lightly brushed with a Mason Pearson brush and then sprayed with a Phyto Finishing Hair Spray to give it structure and body.
We then styled it with the fabulous T3- Micro Hair Iron, alternating the direction of each wave.

NO BARREL CURLS! That's right guys...this is the look that will define today's modern girl.

The hair was then put into a ponytail, keeping it, "...structured with an ease..."

Great job guys!!

Orlando Pita, Derek Lam and Makeup artist Tom Pecheux.

Diane Von Furstenberg Fall 2013

Assisting Orlando Pita for fashion week is an experience of a life time. Not only are the shows amazing, but Orlando is an incredibly talented hairstylist and we all walk away with much more knowledge of hair.

The inspiration was glam rock meets disco with a vibe from DVF herself.

Orlando was asked if this model should have extensions, he quickly replied "no, lets take this opportunity to embrace her natural beauty".
